Parenting Teens: The Challenge Continues

For parents who have taken Thriving with Teens, who have teens ages 13 - 18

Fridays, October 1, 8, 15, and 22, 2010

If you've taken PEP's Thriving with Teens and are still working on issues involving discipline, respect, communication -- among others -- you are not alone. Explore teen issues in greater depth, such as alcohol and drugs, sex, anger, and encouraging responsibility and independence. There will be ample time to problem-solve real-life situations.

Course length: Four weeks

Prerequisite: PEP Thriving with Teens or PEP I

Managing Anger: A Parent's Guide

For all parents

#504 Thursday evenings, October 28, November 4, and 11, 2010

Why do we lose our tempers over some issues and not others? Can we really control our anger? And how can or should we? What are the underlying causes of anger? Join us for this seminar and learn the answers to these questions and more. Learn ways to change what you think, say, and do to express your concerns in more positive, effective ways. This seminar will also focus on how we can help our children learn coping strategies and techniques.

Course length: Three weeks

Limit Setting

For parents of children ages 5 - 12

Mondays, November 29, December 6, and 13, 2010

Presenter: Steven J. Stein, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor/Marriage and Family Therapist, as well as a Coach for Personal and Professional Success, has over twenty years of Adlerian teaching and clinical experience.

This three-part seminar will underscore the importance of establishing clear boundaries, provide parents with a process for limit setting, and discuss obstacles and difficulties. Parents will learn ways to:

  • Teach their rules and expectations for acceptable behavior
  • Establish boundaries that balance freedom and control
  • Understand their own behaviors that contradict effective limit setting

Course length: Three weeks
